General Description / Primary Purpose


The Web Developer I, under the direction of a Assistant Director or above, assists in the design, development and implementation of departmental processes and/or programs. Recommends policies and procedures to ensure effective coordination of departmental programs.

Essential Duties



Job Function


- Assist with building and maintaining websites and software applications

- Perform quality-assurance evaluations as part of the software development process and assist with testing and debugging of code.

- Assist in front-end design, development, and maintenance of web interfaces

- Work with colleagues to develop and implement best practices for accessibility.

-Understands UI, cross-browser compatibility, and general web functions and standards.

-Maintain knowledge of current and evolving UX and accessibility standards and make suggestions for integration of modern practices into team processes.

-During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence.

Attends meetings of Information Technology Services staff; utilizes staff resources when situations require additional expertise. Serves on committees, task forces, and work groups that pertain to complementary applications support, as assigned by upper management.


Required Qualifications


A Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization; or a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and two years of experience directly related to the job functions.

Departmental Requirements


-Solid knowledge of front-end development languages: HTML , CSS , JavaScript.

-Familiarity with web content management systems.

-Version control systems such as GIT and TFS

-Experience working effectively in highly collaborative, team oriented environments.

-Good organizational and project management skills.

-Effective written and oral communication skills.

-Experience with web accessibility techniques for web

-Basic familiarity with modern front-end frameworks including Angular or React

-Basic familiarity with web coding languages such as ASP .Net, C#, or PHP

-Basic familiarity with API tools such as Postman
